Leaked information and images of the rumored Nokia EOS have been popping up on the Internet in recent times, giving Windows Phone and Nokia fans something exciting to look forward to before the end of the year. However, details of the Nokia EOS got even more interesting when a leaked video of the device in action, found its way to YouTube.
The video in question was leaked by newcomer, ViziLeaks, and from what we can tell from the 50 second footage, the camera seems to be gearing up to be the most innovative thing about the new handset. The video showed off the lens shutter in action, and apparently that is enough to get many Nokia fans want to get their hands on the handset.
The upcoming Nokia EOS smartphone, is expected to come with Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 8.1 inside. Furthermore, rumors claim the device has a 41-megapixel PureView camera at the back, one that is quite similar to the 41-megapixel sensor found on the Nokia 808 PureView, a device that runs on the now dead Symbian mobile operating system.
Other rumors say the Nokia EOS could be similar in specification to the Lumia 920, which means the device could come packed with a 4.5-inch 720p display, 32GB internal storage, dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and support for wireless charging. However, due to the pin holes on the back of the leaked image, it is likely Nokia will make wireless charging an optional feature rather than throw it at consumers who are not interested.
While it is great to see Nokia releasing new Windows Phone 8 devices on a regular basis, we can't help but think that Microsoft is holding back the Finnish giant. Because Microsoft controls the Windows Phone 8 platform, there is nothing much Nokia can do so far as software is concerned. This means Nokia has to innovate somewhere else, and right now that somewhere else is in the camera department. Still, an awesome camera won't be enough. This is where Microsoft needs to step in and innovate more with the platform.
