The highly-anticipated 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia smartphone now stars in a newly-leaked image showing the back of the handset, complete with an impressive camera chassis.
If up until now only pictures of the front of the device were available, now we can finally get a good look at the rear of the device as well and see that huge camera chassis, undoubtedly housing the 41-megapixel beast.
Nokia first launched a 41-megapixel smartphone last year as the 808 PureView. While that smartphone stirred plenty of interest due to its very impressive camera, the outdated Symbian operating system was a major drawback. The upcoming Lumia smartphone plans to change all that, packing the same 41-megapixel sensor with PureView technology but on Windows Phone 8 this time.
According to notorious tipster @evleaks, Nokia's upcoming camera smartphone will launch as the Nokia 909, not the Nokia Lumia 1020 as previously rumored. The new image showing the back of the device comes from the same tipster, who has a good track record when it comes to leaking upcoming devices.
Nokia previously teased "41 million reasons" to keep an eye out for its July 11 event in New York, leaving little room for doubting the smartphone will boast a 41-megapixel camera. The newly leaked image comes as further confirmation of that huge camera sensor.
The folks over at WPCentral, meanwhile, claim the Nokia Lumia 1020 will launch in August for a $602 retail price. The purported price reportedly comes from upcoming inventory in a Microsoft store. The publication also insists that the smartphone will launch as the Lumia 1020, not the Nokia 909 as @evleaks said. The report further notes that the smartphone will launch in three color options: black, white and yellow.
As previously mentioned, Nokia's upcoming 41-megapixel smartphone is highly-anticipated, which means lots of rumors and speculation ahead of the big event. The rumor mill is churning at full speed in anticipation but remember to take things with a grain of salt until Nokia officially unleashes its new camera powerhouse. The images leaked so far may or may not be the real deal. Nokia's aforementioned teaser, however, clearly hints at a 41-megapixel surprise. July 11 is just around the corner, so it will all be official soon.
