A new Sony Xperia Z Ultra teaser is out, showing off exciting features that include a Smart Bluetooth Headset and a regular mechanical pencil serving as a stylus.
With a whopping 6.44-inch display, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is hardly a smartphone, but makes a gorgeous "phablet." As the gadget may be a bit too large for handling one-handedly, Sony shows off a few tricks in its latest teaser video.
The new video demonstrates how the Sony Xperia Z Ultra can serve for a variety of business purposes, showing off the different features the device has to offer. Among those features, a stylus-like pen looks particularly interesting. It seems to be a regular mechanical pencil, which can easily write on the screen. In other words, it demonstrates how users could use pretty much anything as a stylus, although it sounds rather risky.
The Smart Bluetooth headset makes for another intriguing appearance. Considering that the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is not exactly tiny, the Smart Bluetooth device that looks like a thin black rectangle would allow users to answer a call without actually picking up the phablet.
A brief description of the "small apps," meanwhile, shows the calculator pulled over a note the user is writing. Because it doesn't take up the entire screen, this small app allows for both note-taking and calculating without having to switch between them. Another shot in the video shows the device in "Stamina mode" for conserving battery life, gaining a few more hours until the next charge.
The Xperia Z Ultra's size could also pose some challenges when it comes to typing, but Sony offers a solution for this as well. Users will be able to adjust the keyboard to a one-handed mode, which is essentially a smaller version of the full-sized keyboard for easier typing.
In terms of specifications, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra beast packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, offers LTE connectivity, sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and boasts an IP58 rating for dust- and water-resistance. The device is expected to launch sometime during the third quarter of this year and it will be the largest phablet so far.
