Motorola and Verizon unveiled three new smartphones: the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini, set to hit the market in August.
The brand new Droids made their debut at a press event Verizon and Motorola held in New York City. The three smartphones boast some neat features, expanding the Motorola Droid franchise that proves quite successful so far.
The Droid Mini is the cheapest of the trio, sporting a $99.99 price tag upon signing a two-year agreement with Verizon. It features a compact design with a 4.3-inch HD display and packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, quad-core graphics, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Other specs include a 10-megapixel rear camera with Full HD (1080p) recording, a 2-megapixel front shooter, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2,130 mAh battery promising up to 28 hours of usage. The smartphone will run on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The Droid Ultra, meanwhile, is the thinnest smartphone that supports 4G LTE and comes with a $199 price tag on a two-year contract with Verizon. This model sports a 5-inch HD display and packs the same dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, coupled with quad-core graphics and 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as well, while other specs include 16GB of internal storage, a 10-megaixel rear camera with 1080p recording and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are also on board, while a 2,130 provides up to 28 hours of usage and 13 days of standby time.
Lastly, the Droid Maxx boasts a massive 3,500 mAh battery that will keep the smartphone up and running for up to 48 hours, continuing Motorola's tradition of offering long-battery smartphones. The other specs are largely the same as the other two Droid models, meaning Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, quad-core graphics, a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p recording, a 2-megapixel front shooter, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. This model, however, packs 32GB of internal storage and comes with wireless charging. The Droid Maxx will sport a $299 price tag on a two-year contract.
The new Motorola Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx are already available for pre-order and will start shipping soon. The Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX will arrive by Aug. 20, while the Droid Mini will ship a bit later, on Aug. 29.
