A leaked press release for Sony's upcoming Xperia Z1 "Honami" smartphone details the full specs of the handset ahead of the big IFA 2013 unveiling.
Sony is expected to take the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1 or "Honami," at the IFA 2013 trade show on Sept. 4. This is the same date that Samsung is expected to unveil its highly-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 phablet, as well as its first smartwatch, dubbed the Galaxy Gear.
Leaks, rumors and speculations are common ahead of big events, especially if highly-anticipated devices are involved. Sony's Honami makes no exception, but seems to reveal more than others. The full specifications of the handset have now leaked online, making us wonder whether Sony will still have something left to surprise fans.
The Xperia Blog claims to have gotten its hands on the full press release for the upcoming Sony Honami, as well as the official press images for the smartphone.
According to the publication, the press release makes no mention of the expected 4K video recording capabilities. It does, however, confirm other rumored specs such as a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, the TFT Triluminos screen and X-Reality image processing for mobile.
The handset's camera also seems to be top-notch, as previously rumored, boasting a 1/2.3-inch 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, Sony G lens with 27mm wide angle, F2.0 aperture and Bionz image processing.
Under the hood, the Sony Xperia Z1 Honami will reportedly pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 clocked at 2.2GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. The smartphone will come with 16GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running the show.
The Sony Honami will reportedly be available in three color options: black, white, and purple. As expected, the handset will be dust- and water-resistant just like the company's current Xperia Z flagship, sporting an elegant unibody aluminum chassis. The smartphone is expected to hit the market globally sometime this month, but no exact launch dates or pricing details are available at this point.
