Samsung has officially confirmed the availability of its Galaxy S4 Mini smartphone in the U.S., announcing that the handset will launch on four carriers in November.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will make its U.S. debut next month on Sprint, AT&T, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular. While the company has confirmed that the smartphone will go on sale in November, it still did not offer any specific launch date or pricing from the carriers.
"Samsung continues to provide a wide range of products to fit consumers' needs," said Gregory Lee, president of Samsung Mobile. "The Galaxy S4 mini continues that commitment by bringing the paramount features of our flagship Galaxy S 4 smartphone to a smaller, more compact form factor."
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display with a 960 x 540 resolution, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and 1.5GB of RAM. The smartphone also packs 16GB of internal storage capacity, a micro SD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB, an 8-megapixel real camera with LED flash, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 1,900 mAh battery. The handset supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
In addition to confirming U.S. availability, Samsung also mentioned that the Galaxy S4 Mini would be treated to a software update "soon" after it launches in the country. The company did not reveal full details for said update, but we do know that the Galaxy S4 Mini will get to be compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
In terms of accessories for the handset, Samsung mentioned an S-View Flip Cover for the Galaxy S4 Mini. This protective case will have a cutout on the display, allowing users to see notifications without having to fully open the flip cover. This accessory will be available in black, white, light blue, and pink color options.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini itself comes in Black Mist and White Frost color options and will hit the U.S. soon. As usual, carriers will announce their specific launch dates for the handset, as well as the colors and availability. There was no mention of T-Mobile, so the mobile operator may not be adding the Galaxy S4 Mini to its lineup.
