LG's recently-launched G Flex curved display smartphone has leaked online for Sprint's network, suggesting an imminent release in the U.S.
Various rumors so far have indicated that the LG G Flex would see a global launch sometime in December, and it now looks like Sprint is ready to launch the smartphone.
Trusted tipster @evleaks, who is well-known for accurate leaks regarding yet-to-be-announced products and plans in the tech world, has now posted an image of a purported Sprint-bound LG G Flex, along with the model number LS995.
LG's curved display smartphone is expected to launch on multiple carriers and according to @evleaks' press rendering, Sprint will be one of them. The LG G Flex was also recently spotted at the FCC, indicating that it should make its debut on AT&T and T-Mobile as well. Verizon Wireless is also expected to carry the smartphone. It's worth noting, however, that none of the carriers has officially announced plans to launch the LG G Flex yet, so it's all in the rumor state for now.
The LG G Flex aims to revolutionize the smartphone market not only with its innovative curved display technology, but also with its unique self-healing ability. The smartphone boasts a self-healing case that automatically fills in small scratches so the device looks like new despite the daily wear and tear. The technology will not fix deep cracks or serious damage, but it's a notable step forward when it comes to smartphone durability and ruggedness.
"The LG G Flex has captivated early adopters everywhere as the first smartphone to follow the contour of the human face, made possible with the implementation of the world's first curved smartphone battery," LG touted in a press release in early December. "With a durable OLED (P-OLED) HD display, the G Flex also comes with a self-healing back cover that eliminates those day-to-day scratches, making it the first smartphone to incorporate such technology. These innovative features have earned LG's latest smartphone significant praise from major media outlets worldwide."
When it comes to specs, the LG G Flex sports a large 6-inch curved HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, along with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. It ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, but is expected to receive a software update soon.
The LG G Flex is already available in Korea and is expected to make its debut in the U.S. shortly. If this leaked image proves to be accurate, Sprint should make an announcement soon enough.
