Apple will reportedly launch two iPhone 6 models with 4.7- and 5.7-inch displays at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2014 in June.
This is not the first time that large-screen iPhones make the news, but new reports now bolster that claim and suggest that Apple might launch its next-generation iPhone sooner than expected.
The new information comes from Chinese analyst Sun Changxu, who told QQ Tech that the iPhone 6 will sport two large-screen sizes and one of them will debut as early as June, Apple Insider reports.
The analyst claimed that Apple would first release a 4.7-inch iPhone with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, and launch another smartphone shortly after, jumping to a massive 5.7-inch display. According to the rumor mill, Apple might use its Worldwide Developers Conference as a venue for unveiling its new iPhone 6.
There are also several reports that have previously stated that Apple's next-generation iPhone would boast a large display. Various screen sizes have been rumored, ranging from 5 inches all the way up to 5 inches, but nothing is confirmed for now.
While the rumor mill is constantly churning especially when it comes to bigwig companies, Apple has made no announcement so far, and has not offered any comment regarding such claims.
Launching a larger-screen iPhone would make sense considering that Android rivals are coming up with increasingly bigger smartphones, but a jump from the 4-inch display the current iPhones sport all the way up to a 5.7-inch screen seems quite dramatic and a bit unlikely.
Also unlikely is this purported June unveiling, as Apple has so far unveiled its new-generation iPhones in September and new iPads in October. On the other hand, Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy S5 flagship sometime in March or April, which could prompt Apple to launch its iPhone 6 sooner.
In separate news, Apple has also reportedly accelerated production for its upcoming 12.9-inch iPad, feeling pressure from archrival Samsung's recent launch of new 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO tablets.
As always, however, it is highly advisable to take all predictions, leaks and reports with a hefty grain of salt until official confirmation. At this point, it seems rather unlikely that Apple will launch a large-screen iPhone in June.
