Amazon is now offering the Verizon Motorola Droid Maxx for just $49.99 on-contract, allowing for huge savings over the carrier's asking price for the smartphone.
Motorola has created the Droid family of smartphones specifically for Verizon, and the handsets are exclusively available on Big Red's network. The current lineup consists of the Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra, and Droid Mini, all of which have proved to be really popular among consumers.
Each of the smartphones in the Droid lineup comes with powerful specs and features, and each has its strong point to set itself apart from the crowd. While the Droid Ultra impresses with its ultra thin and light body and the Droid Mini packs high-end specs in a compact form factor with a 4.3-inch display, the Droid Maxx is the ultimate powerhouse when it comes to battery life.
Smartphones nowadays have become so advanced that they're basically mini portable computers, but all of those high-end specs and features take their toll on battery life. Motorola is one of the few companies that has remained dedicated to providing smartphones with superior battery performance, and the Droid Maxx is an undisputed leader in this category.
The handset packs a large 3,500 mAh battery that provides up to 48 hours of use on a single charge, which is truly impressive compared to other smartphones currently available on the market.
This long battery life, combined with a thin design and high-end specs have made the Droid Maxx the most popular smartphone in the series. As a reminder, the handset comes with a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and packs Motorola's X8 Mobile Computing System under the hood, which consists of a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU), and 2GB of RAM.
Other specs of the Verizon-exclusive Motorola Droid Maxx include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a high-end 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The smartphone also supports wireless charging out of the box, provided that you provide a compatible charging pad.
On the software side, the Motorola Droid Maxx runs Android 4.4 KitKat and shares some of the Moto X's popular features, such as touchless controls and the wrist-twist gesture to quickly launch the camera app.
Verizon Wireless is currently selling the Motorola Droid Maxx for $199.99 when signing a new two-year contract, but Amazon has a far better deal in place. The retailer is now offering the exact same smartphone for just $49.99 on-contract, and is also throwing in free two-day shipping with the order. Amazon doesn't mention when this promotion will expire, but interested buyers might want to take advantage of this offer while it lasts.
