The HTC One successor, dubbed the M8 or the HTC One 2, will reportedly make its debut in March, according to a new leak.
The HTC M8 has leaked extensively, with various reports trying to give a glimpse into what to expect from the HTC One successor. The "M8" is just a codename, following the "M7" moniker for the current HTC One flagship.
The HTC One has enjoyed great success and received high praise for its specs and features, as well as its much-touted aluminum unibody design. The HTC One 2, or HTC M8, is expected to sport notable improvements over its predecessor, while retaining the beautiful design that proved so popular among consumers.
Based on reports so far, the next-generation flagship smartphone from HTC will sport a 5-inch display with a resolution of at least 1920 x 1080 pixels, if not higher at 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the new smartphone powerhouse is expected to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, coupled with a hefty 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The HTC M8 will also reportedly rock Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, topped with HTC Sense 6.0, a new version of the manufacturer's custom interface.
While some previous reports have claimed that HTC may unveil its new M8 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 later this month, a well-known and trusted leaker now claims that the HTC One successor will in fact launch in March.
Serial tipster @evleaks, who has a very good track record when it comes to outing yet-to-be-announced devices and plans in the tech world, has now taken to Twitter to reveal that HTC will announce its M8 at a press event in New York in March.
"Starting to look like a late March, NYC launch for the HTC M8," @evleaks tweeted on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Despite @evleaks good track record, however, it is still advisable to take all such leaks and reports with a hefty grain of salt until an official announcement. Also, keep in mind that all of the above-listed specs for the purported HTC M8 are based purely on speculation and recent reports, but nothing is confirmed for now. Stay tuned for more information as soon as it becomes available.
