‘Tom Clancy's The Division’ Movie Adaptation To Star Jake Gyllenhaal

A movie inspired from "Tom Clancy's The Division" is reportedly on works and will feature the actor, Jake Gyllenhaal as the main lead.

The "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" star will also be the film's producer for Ubisoft. The upcoming movie was based on the online third-person shooter game that was set in a modern military environment after an epidemic outbreak, according to Comingsoon.net.

An unknown source first released the news that Gyllenhaal will be taking on the lead role for another video-game film adaptation after six years, reported by Variety.

Furthermore, this will be the third movie franchise inspired from Ubisoft developed games to be released. Some of the upcoming projects will be the "Assassin's Creed," which will star Michael Fassbender that will be launched on December and "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" with Tom Hardy as the main character.

"Tom Clancy's The Division" was published and developed by Ubisoft along with Red Storm Entertainment for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game featured an apocalyptic surrounding set in New York City that followed evefnts after a smallpox pandemic, according to Cinema Blend.  

In the game, the player is a Strategic Homeland Division agent, hence the name "The Division" was given a mission to discover the outbreak cause, restart operations in Manhattan and fight against criminals.

Since its debut, the game has already earned a total of $300 million in sales globally within five days and the numbers were still growing from the past weeks.

As of the moment, Ubisoft hasn't released an official statement with regards to additional details about their game's movie adaptation. Also, the studio is currently on search to be the "Tom Clancy's The Division" writer.

On the other hand, Gyllenhaal will also star for Tom Ford's movie together with Amy Adams titled "Nocturnal Animals," which will be released on Nov. 18, according to Entertainment Weekly
