There is still no confirmation on the release date of "Vampire Diaries" season 8, but recent spoilers hinted that its lead stars, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, will be present at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con.

This is good news for fans of the ex-couple who are excited to see their impending reunion on the highly-popular supernatural CW series, according to Hollywood Hills. 

Although there is no official word yet on whether the former lovers will appear in the conference, anticipation is high that the two will provide a glimpse of what viewers can expect from the latest series.

If Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder's schedules would allow them to attend the Comic Con on July 23, they are expected to participate in a question and answer portion based on the recent "Vampire Diaries" season 8 spoilers.

It is also still unclear who among the other cast members will sit in the panel, but there are indications that Paul Wesley, Candice Accola-King, Katarina Graham, and Zach Roerig, along with their executive producer will attend.

In the meantime, TV Line's Ausellio may have an inside track on the latest season of the top-rating vampire TV show.

Playing coy, he said, "I can't give you that information right now - it's locked up in the vault, so to speak - but I can tell you about a new face we'll be meeting in the first episode of Season 8."

His revelations may not directly concern its main star Nina Dobrev, but they were intriguing "Vampire Diaries" spoilers nevertheless, as it highlighted one of the show's main antagonists.

The show will once again feature the recurring role of Sybil, "an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people, manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification."

"Time will tell whether she proves to be a friend or foe, but given this show's penchant for sympathetic villains, it could also be fair to assume she'll be a bit of both," Ausellio said.
