While smartwatches from Apple and Samsung have continuously been gaining grounds in the international markets, a small player in China is joining the bandwagon as it intends to release the Ticwatch 2 soon.
Amid the fact that the wearable is not as popular as the mobile phones, especially if from the American tech giant and South Korean multinational company, it still has not stopped Chinese firm Mobvoi to come up with its own version of the gadget.
Called the Ticwatch 2, the wearable is expected to be released in the United States and Europe this fall with a price tag of less than $100 for the entry level model, according to The Verge.
Although it runs on Android, it is both compatible with both Android and iOS-based devices, which makes it capable to "display notifications, send replies to incoming messages, control music playback on the phone, perform voice searches, and track physical activity" on either of the two platforms.
With its own voice assistant, it can be activated by simply using your voice via responding "OK, Tico" or by swiping from the left side of the Ticwatch 2 watchface.
Amid the fact that its interface has several similarities with the Android Wear watch, the report clarified that it is NOT an Android Wear watch. Rather, it runs on a software called Ticwear.
Launched in China earlier this year, the Ticwatch 2 also boasts of an always-on OLED display, a sensor for heart rate, tracking number of steps and GPS and a quick release 20mm straps.
In the meantime, Tech Crunch revealed that in just three days of its Kickstart campaign, the Chinese-made wearable has already raised at least $500,000 from its so-called 3,000 backers. This is way above from the firm's goal of $50,000.
Ticwatch 2 released on Kickstarter was already the English version of the wearable from the Beijing-based company.
