The days of "Pokémon GO" cheaters had been made short and it is all thanks to Niantic's update that takes the fight against cheating and hacking even more seriously. However, it supposedly affected players who are enjoying the game fair and square.

It makes the anti-cheating algorhithm poorly made as some legitimate players are getting the same sanction that cheaters and hackers are only supposed to get. Apparently, a redditor posted an interesting experience of getting banned, even without cheating.

What the redditor simply did was travel across cities in the United States within just a short period of time. This isn't at all impossible, but the account got detected as "cheating" and got banned anyway.

This isn't just a simple soft ban that may last a few minutes to a day max, but a serious permanent ban, which will prevent players account from being logged in again.

This would have been easily overlooked if it only happened once or twice, but it is happening with a lot of players from different demographics like traveling businessmen, military members and the such.

This is caused by the algorhithm's cheating pattern detection that measures and monitors the players' movements and address it as legit or hacked. Before such tools like Necrobot were working, cheaters used it to easily move around certain areas with the ease of not actually making a single step in "Pokémon GO."

Apparently, this type of movement can easily be done given the right resources and reasons, and like it already did, it will backfire to legit players.

This situation could get out of control and may even be exploited by other players against proper-playing players, especially those who are guarding their gyms. These uncalled for bans may affect the entire "Pokémon GO" experience.

Niantic definitely needs to rework their anti-cheating mechanic and algorhithm and order to differentiate the difference between actual movements to software-induced ones. Accelerometer logging may be put to good use with these.
