Ever since reports surfaced that Nina Dobrev is confirmed to be returning to "The Vampire Diaries" season finale, divorce rumors for Ian Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed have not yet stopped. Still, the couple always proved that they are not threatened by the recent news.

In fact, the couple is focusing their attention on asking help on behalf of the residents of Louisiana who was affected by the recent flood situation.

According to a report, Somerhalder wants to help his home state and teamed up with his wife to raise funds especially for the Louisiana flood victims. To recall, the flooding has caused massive damage in the southern state. Thus, the couple is hoping to help the state's schools and animals with their fundraising.

On his Instagram account, Somerhalder shared a short video of him and his wife talking about what he felt after the Louisiana floods.

"Hey everyone, it's Ian and Nikki. Listen, what happened in Louisiana is a disaster, plain and simple. Clearly, it's very personal to me because that's my home state," the 37-year-old actor said in the video.

"Nikki and I have been working very closely with the first lady of Louisiana Mrs. Donna Edwards to restore the normalcy into those schools; bring school supplies, get them rebuilt, get those kids back in class which is very important in the state... we're asking for your help," he added.

The married couple started a CrowdRise campaign to help. For every $10 donated, fans will get an entry into the raffle. Two donors will be announced as winners and will get a chance to video chat with the couple. They will also get an autographed Ian Somerhalder Foundation T-shirt.

The said organization will put the funds towards repairing damaged schools and providing supplies to classrooms and students.

"Nikki and I have been working very closely with the first lady of Louisiana, Mrs. Donna Edwards, to restore normalcy to those schools: bring school supplies, get them rebuilt, get those kids back in class, which is very important to the state," Somerhalder stated. "This CrowdRise page is an amazing way to do that, and we're asking for your help."

Meanwhile, Edwards expressed gratitude to the couple for helping spread the word that Louisiana is still in need of help after the flooding incident.

Those who will be sending help to Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed will be extending help to the animals that were affected by the flood. "The Louisiana State Animal Response team is doing an amazing job not just rescuing cats and dogs, but also larger animals, which as you can imagine is extremely difficult, and getting supplies and vet care to them," Reed said in the clip.
