Microsoft Surface Pro 5 To Feature Kaby Lake Processor, 4k UHD Display But To Be Released 2017?
Kirsten KaneThe highly-anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was initially expected to be unveiled this October, however, there are new reports suggesting that the device will be out by 2017.
While the rumored delay of the Surface Pro 5 is likely to happen, this doesn't stop speculations about its specs to circulate online.
The device is expected to be powered by Intel's Kaby Lake processor, however, the chip won't be available until the end of this year and this might surely be the reason of the delay. It may all depend on the delivery schedules.
The Kaby Lake processor is expected to increase battery life and render better USB support. These are two of the problems seen in the Surface Pro 4 having Skylake chips, as reported by Morning News USA.
Intel's Kaby Lake processors are manufactured using optimized 14-nanometer process. This device enables processor to improve the cooling system of the device it is housed in. Unlike its predecessor, this processor is likely to give 40 percent improved performance.
Moreover, the new tablet may come with an amazing 4K Ultra High-Definition display with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution which is an ever sharper screen and is likely a very capable gaming device. Still, the display size might be the same as the Surface Pro 4.
There were also reports saying that the Surface Pro 5 might come with Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) Polaris-based graphics processing unit (GPU).
In addition, 16GB of RAM is expected to arrive in the device, as well as a 16 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. Also, the Microsoft is said to upgrade its Surface Pen that features a rechargeable battery system.
The 2-in-1 tablet laptop is said to be $100 more than the current-generation model. However, Microsoft has not yet released any official statement about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 about its price, specs, and release date.
