The Samsung Galaxy J5 and Sony Xperia X Compact are both 2016 launches. Both handsets come with decent specifications and we thought to compare both of these smartphones.

When it comes to design, the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 is taller, slimmer, and denser compared to the Sony Xperia X Compact.  Although the back of the Xperia X compact gives a brushed metal appearance, it is actually made of plastic. It also makes use of a curved edge design similar to the XZ model.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 has a larger display than the Xperia X compact. However, even when both models offer a similar resolution, the Sony phone has a higher PPI.

From a processor perspective, the Xperia X Compact makes use of a higher capacity Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset than the Samsung Galaxy J5, reported IBTimes. The Xperia X Compact thus brings a better and smoother experience than the Galaxy J5 model.

The Galaxy J5 2016 has a removable battery that has more battery capacity than the Xperia X Compact, which comes with a non-removable battery. According to Neurogadget, the Sony model has an internal storage capacity of 32 GB, whereas the Samsung phone comes with half of this its capacity.

Sony models are well known for their great cameras and the same can be assured for Xperia X Compact model. With an incredible 23MP rear camera with flash and a 5 MP secondary camera, it comfortably beats the Galaxy J5 2016 which comes with 5 MP secondary camera and 13 MP primary camera.

So is the winner here? Well, it is up to the users to decide that. For shutterbugs and most users, the Sony Xperia X Compact seems to be the better choice. Users who love a sleek design or are concerned with more battery life has a better choice going with the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016.
