Good news awaits all anime lovers. It seems that "The Seven Deadly Sins" is returning to the small television screen.
According to Crunchyroll, Japanese animator Kinji Yoshimoto is taking charge of "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2. They noted that the animation studio A-1 Pictures chose Yoshimoto in light of the success of the four-episode OVA (Original Video Animation) titled "The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War" (Nanatsu no Taizai Seisen no Shirushi).
Yoshimoto is no longer new to the industry. His major works include the 1985 four-part OVA "Megazone 23" and the 1994 "Plastic Little." He also helmed the anime adaptations of Jun Sakyou's "I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job" and Reiji Kaito's light novel series "Unbreakable Machine-Doll."
While nothing is confirmed yet, reports claimed that the storyline of "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 will take off from where the four-episode TV special concluded. The said special episodes, which aired from Aug. 28 to Sept. 18, takes place in a time before the human and inhuman worlds got isolated.
Written by Nakaba Suzuki, "The Seven Deadly Sins" follows the strongest group of knights in the district of Britannia - namely the Dragon's Sin of Wrath, Meliodas; the Boar's Sin of Gluttony, Merlin; the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth, King; the Serpents Sin of Envy, Diane; the Fox's Sin of Greed, Ban; the Goat's Sin of Lust, Gowther and the Lion's Sin of Pride, Escanor.
However, the seven knights got disbanded after they were framed for murdering the former Great Holy Knight Zaratras. After ten years, the third princess, Elizabeth, stars on a quest to find the said Seven Deadly Sins, hoping to enlist their help after the Holy Knights staged a coup d'état and became the tyrannical leaders of the kingdom.
While nothing is impossible, the reports should be taken with a grain of salt. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates about the supposed season 2 of "The Seven Deadly Sins."
