Samsung has launched two new J series and A series smartphones this year. With the strategy to cater both the low-budget and mid-budget smartphone demand, Samsung has fared quite well using its unique pricing and feature strategy for both the series models.

The Galaxy J7 was launched 6 months after the A5. So, we can expect a little upgrade. Let's dig out the relative differences in features within their respective price.

The J7 fares ahead in display size with its 5.5-inch screen, but the resolution in the A5's 5.2-inch screen is better with full HD (1920 x 1080) display and Corning Gorilla Glass 4. A5 (2016) comes with fingerprint sensor while J7 (2016) doesn't have one.

Coming to the processors and functionality, the J7 and A5 comes with same processor. The Galaxy J7 (2016) is powered by Snapdragon 617 Exynos 7870 Octa-core processor, while Galaxy A5 (2016) is powered with a similar Snapdragon 615 Exynos 7580 Octa-core processor, both clocking at a maximum of 1.6GHz.

Again, both comes with 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage with microSD slot expandable up to 256 GB.

Furthermore, both the devices run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, A5 (2016) has been upgraded from 5.1.1 (Lollipop).

The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and the Galaxy A5 (2016) both sport a 13-megapixel primary camera with Auto, Beauty Face, Continuous Shot, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Interval Shot, Night, Panorama, Pro, Selfie, Sports, Sound and Shot, Wide Selfie. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel secondary camera.

Interestingly, both the cameras on the J7 (2016) come with LED flash light, while A5 (2016) have LED flash in rear camera only with latest OIS technology

In the battery department, the Galaxy J7 (2016) has an edge with removable 3300 mAh battery compared to non-removable 2900 mAh battery in Galaxy A5 (2016).

With a price tag of Rs. 21900, the Galaxy A5 (2016) is clearly not appealing with only a finger print sensor and Gorilla Glass 4 finish in front and back, while the J7 (2016) has a better battery life, camera, similar processor at an affordable price of Rs. 15900.
