After the Note 7 fiasco, all Galaxy Note series users looking for an upgrade are in a dilemma. Here, we brought a comparison of the Note 5, Huawei Honor Holly 3, and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium to help you choose an alternative.

Starting with the design and display, the Xperia Z5 Premiuim and the Holly 3 feature a huge 5.5" display varying in resolution, but both are smaller than the Note 5's 5.7" display. Among all, the Xperia model has the best resolution, followed by the Note 5 and then the Honor Holly 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes with Super AMOLED display, protected with Gorilla Glass 4. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 Premium and the Honor Holly 3 have IPS LCD display. However, only the Xperia model has Oleophobic coating with scratch resistant.

In terms of performance, Xperia features an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor clocking at 2GHz. Similarly, the Note 5 comes with octa-core Exynos 7420 processor with 2.1 GHz clocking speed. Surprisingly, Honor Holly has HiSilicon Kirin 620 octa-core processor which clocks at only 1.2 GHz.

In terms of memory, the Samsung leads with 32/64/128 GB internal storage with 4 GB RAM, while Xperia Z5 Premium shines with only 3GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. However, Honor Holly 3 lags with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Only Z5 Premium and Holly 3 have expandable storage of 256Gb and 128Gb respectively.

In terms of battery, theoretically Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a bigger battery with 3430 mAH than Honor Holly 3's 3100mAH followed by Note 5's 3000 mAH battery.

The Sony brand, as expected leads the photography round with stunning 23 MP (2160p) camera. Contrastingly, Note 5 have a 16 MP (2160p) rear camera and Honor Holly 3 have 13 MP camera. The trio comes with rear LED Flash. Holly 3 has better selfie camera with 8MP, followed by the duo with 5MP.

Additionally, Z5 Premium and Note 5 has got the fingerprint sensors on them. Holly 3 doesn't have the same.

Z5 Premium and Note 5 runs on Lollipop 5.1.1 but only Z5 is upgradable to Android Nougat 7.0. while Note 5 will upgrade to Android 6.0. Holly 3 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.  

Summing up, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Xperia Z5 Premium are way ahead of Honor Holly 3 in almost all features, except selfie camera. The Note 5 is a good call over the Z5  if you neglect the front camera and battery.
