A reported development of "The Winds of Winter" has led to a conclusion that the sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin will be released in spring 2017 along with the prequel of "Game of Thrones."

A lot of fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" have been growing impatient with the release of the sixth book. Readers have been reportedly questioning the author of the series, George R.R. Martin, as to why the release of the sixth installment is taking so long.

Rumors are rife that the release of "Winds of Winter" may be before the airing of the seventh season of "Game of Thrones. However, there is still no confirmation about this from the publisher or even from the author himself.

Moreover, other sources have mentioned that the upcoming book will be delayed again. This is due to how slow the author writes, and Martin is not afraid to admit that.

"But no, I can't tell you when it will be done, or when it will be published. Best guess, based on our previous conversations, is that Bantam (and presumably my British publisher as well) can have the hardcover out within three months of delivery, if their schedules permit. But when delivery will be, I can't say," Martin said on his blog.

"I am not going to set another deadline for myself to trip over. The deadlines just stress me out," the author added.

However, spoilers have it that "The Winds of Winter" will be released by Spring of 2017, just enough time for readers to know the latest events in "A Song of Ice and Fire" before the probable return of "Game of Thrones" by Summer of 2017. Moreover, with the release of the sixth book, reports about the "Game of Thrones" prequel surfaced too, claiming that it will be released alongside with the book.

For now, fans continue to hope that George R.R. Martin would not take too long to finish "The Winds of Winter."
