Previously, there were rumors surfacing online that "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 will probably be cancelled by Netflix after doubts of still getting high ratings following the death of Poussey. Some said that the cancellation has something to do with two of the most loved characters Taylor Schilling as Piper and Laura Prepon as Alex in the series.

Though the network still has to confirm all these, latest reports suggested that the new season is already in the works and with Schilling reportedly teasing potential happenings of her character in the series.

"Piper's outsides are becoming less and less important. She's kind of moving further and further away from the idea of what she thought she was. She's becoming more practical. She's becoming a creature of the prison, and there's no space for excess. Her only need is for survival, and brushing her hair doesn't really factor into the equation," Schilling said as per report by POPSUGAR. Rumors are rife that she might exit the show very soon.

Moreover, Daya (Dascha Polanco) who was seen in the finale episode of Season 4 pointing a gun to Correctional Officer Humphrey might finally pull the trigger and Daya's role might end in the series. However, some rumors suggest that Officer Bennet will return to save Daya from her consequences.

Meanwhile, Laura Prepon is set to return not just as an actor but as a director of one of the episodes of the series.

Recently, Prepon posted a photo of her and Schilling on twitter with a caption "Directing my beautiful co-stars. What a gift and it's not even Xmas. @TaySchilling @nlyonne !! #alexandpiper."

Aside from Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon, Michael Harney (Sam Healy), Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren), Danielle Brooks (Taystee Jefferson) and Kate Mulgrew (Galina "Red" Reznikov) were also reported to return and reprise their roles in Season 5. Michelle Hurst is likely to come back too.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 is said to debut in June 2017, but showrunners of the show are yet to comment on cancellation rumors.
