Gio C."One Punch Man" once again proved itself exceptionally successful as a new figurine has been announced, as well as an announcement about a remarkable achievement for the manga series.
According to the Anime News Network, the 52nd issue of Shueisha's "Young Jump" announced that "One Punch Man," by ONE and Yusuke Murata, has sold more than 11,110,000 copies - 7 years after its inception.
The manga's 12th volume will be published on December 2 in Japan. In contrast, the North American release of the series by Viz Media is now at its 9th volume, released on November 1.
Meanwhile, figure maker Threezero has revealed their forthcoming 1/6 scale Saitama figure, Forbes reports. The figure will be available in two variations: a standard release, that comes with Saitama, his hero costume, and numerous heads with different facial expressions.
A special release of the figure will include all of those in the standard version, along with extra clothes like his "Oppai" hoodie and other shopping items.
The price tags for the standard and special editions are $160 and $180, respectively. A bit more expensive than what other figure makers Figma and Nendoroid offer with their respective Saitama figures, but it is reasonable, given the enormous 30cm height at 1/6 scale. Its size also makes way for far more refined articulation.
The franchise is certainly getting more widespread with its successful manga circulation, growing merchandise, and a green-lit second season; however, fans may need to wait until early next year for the franchise's Season 2 premiere.
"One Punch Man" originally started as a web comic created by ONE in early 2009 that quickly went viral with more than 8 million hits. A digital remake, illustrated by Murata, began publication on Young Jump website in 2012.
The anime adaptation made by Madhouse, however, is the medium that effectively captured its global audience, due to its thrilling action scenes. The second season is on its way, and fans will surely enjoy Saitama and his one-punch adventures once again.
