Skype's Translation Feature Now Available for Mobile and Landline Calls
Chris NPMicrosoft has proudly announced recently that Skype has enhanced its real-time translation feature by including the calls to mobile phones and landlines. This translation capability that began in 2014 was previously only available for the Skype-to-Skype calls.
This new enhanced capability will still follow the same requirements. They need Skype credits (though they did not mention exact figures of how much), the latest version of the Skype software and they need to sign up to the free Windows Insider Program, a project of Microsoft that allows the users of a valid Windows 10 license to experience early builds of the operating system that are previously only accessible to developers.
The translation feature is very easy to use. After bringing up the dialer, go to the switch named "translate" and choose the language that you will use. As soon as the receiver answers the call, the person on the other line will receive a message on screen saying that the call is being recorded and being translated as per Tech Times.
Powered by deep learning system, the translation feature is currently available in nine spoken languages; English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Arabic, and Russian. It is expected to have some minor errors but there is a promise of continuous improvement as time and technology for this feature is being developed.
Microsoft's vision of connecting people despite different languages has just advanced to the whole new level. With the new milestone for Skype real-time translator, Microsoft is expecting to have almost all users download the most updated desktop version. Microsoft is continuously expanding the Skype's full translation capacity and considers this as a major breakthrough in the application's development. Despite its current limitations in languages it supports, we can expect more updates of advancements of the translation tool in the future.
