Monster movie fans now have a new reason to be excited about: Legendary Pictures has announced the official titles for the highly awaited sequels of "Godzilla" and "Pacific Rim".

Both sequels have been stuck in a relative limbo since the original films' release; however, the recent announcement seems to indicate a definite forward motion with their production. In a recent press release, the studio revealed that the next movies will be dubbed as "Godzilla: King of Monsters" and "Pacific Rim: Uprising". The upcoming Godzilla movie title seems to pay homage to the original 1950's Japanese film entitled as "Godzilla, King of Monsters!"

The Godzilla sequel will be a direct follow up to the 2014 remake, which experienced immense success in the box office by grossing $200 million domestically and $529 million worldwide. The movie is scheduled to be released in March 22, 2019, which will then be followed by another movie that is set in the same cinematic franchise the year after --- dubbed as "Godzilla vs. Kong".

Meanwhile, the new Pacific Rim movie, which was previously rumored to be titled "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom", will continue the story of the original 2013 monsters-versus-robots film. The main protagonist of the movie will be played by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor John Boyega. The actor will portray as the son of Marshal Stacker Pentecost --- the leader of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, who was portrayed by Idris Elba in the previous movie. The new sequel is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Feb. 23, 2018.

Aside from announcing these new titles, Legendary Pictures also announced the hiring of three production executives. The new bosses for the company's new film line-up includes Sara Flamm as Senior Vice President of Physical Production, Fluegar Veras as Senior Vice President of Post-Production, and Herbert W. Gains as Executive Vice President of Physical Production.
