Ubisoft is set to start 2017 right as it will launch closed beta for its upcoming game "For Honor" in January.

Ubisoft also said that more information about the game's story mode will be revealed soon.

"Players will learn why these brave heroes have gone to war with one another in the new campaign trailer that dives deeper into the world of 'For Honor,'" Ubisoft said in a press release. "Apollyon ... seeks to incite war amongst the various factions. The new trailer details the motivations of the three factions including the Knights of the Iron Legion, the Warborn Viking clans and the Samurai of the Dawn Empire."

Ubisoft has also introduced a system called "War of the Factions," wherein players will choose among three different factions to swear their allegiance to. Players can choose to side with either Vikings, Knights or Samurai. More details can be found on the official "For Honor" website.

The publisher has also declared that the game will have a dedicated team who will support the game post-launch, and all future maps and modes will be made available to all players at no extra charge, Eurogamer reported.

"We don't want to split the community," game director Damien Kieken said. "So everything that's matchmade [including] new modes and new maps, will be given for free to the players. We'll also have other free content. We are a big team supporting the game after launch."

It is not made clear, however, if extra heroes will be sold as paid DLC, just like Ubisoft's other popular title "Rainbow Six Siege," according to VG 24/7.

As we have reported previously, "For Honor" is confirmed to be an "always online" game, which means internet connection is required, even during single player campaign modes.

"We can confirm that For Honor is an always online experience," a Ubisoft spokesperson said (via PC Games N.)"Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the Internet at all times to play For Honor."

"For Honor" launches on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Valentines Day 2017.
