"Shameless" season 8 is officially confirmed. After the show's cast members got involved into some controversies, now the Showtime TV series has to deal with cancellation reports.

Emmy Rossum caused quite a stir when she reportedly demanded equal pay with male cast members. The loyal followers of the award-winning Showtime TV series are worried that the 30-year old actress might leave the show.

However, it seems that Emmy Rossum will still be part of "Shameless" season 8. In fact, she confirmed that the series will be running for a whole new season.

On Twitter, the "Phantom Of The Opera" actress has expressed her gratitude and joy to still be part of the long-running Showtime TV series. Rossum confirmed her return to the show and said that playing the role of Fiona Gallagher has been one of the greatest privileges in her life.

In the same Twitter post, Emmy Rossum also hinted that she will be going back to work in May. It remains unclear on whether she means that the series will be back in May or filming will begin that month.

According to reports, the finale of "Shameless" season 7 surprisingly got very high ratings, which was taken as a good omen for the next season. Deadline reports that the season finale got a whopping 1.72 million viewers. The view numbers were up five percent from the season premiere.

However, critics are scoffing at the high ratings "Shameless" TV series has been getting, blaming its success on the absence of fellow Showtime series, "Homeland."

As of writing, "Shameless" season 8 air date is yet to be announced, but with the current details, it is expected to air in 2017. Stay tuned to Mobile & Apps for more "Shameless" season 8 news and updates!
