Special Discounts For The HTC Vive At The Microsoft Store, Free Games And $100 Gift Cards

The Microsoft Store, either online or the physical one, is offering special discounts on the HTC Vive VR headset with two free games and Microsoft Store gift card according to a report by phonearena.

The HTC Vive VR headset is reported to be priced at $699, that's a $100 cheaper than the usual price. Plus you get two free games; The Gallery 0 Episode 1: Call of the Starseed and Zombie Training Simulator. You also get a $100 gift card from the Microsoft Store according to other reports.

To use the HTC Vive for your PC, the following must be installed:

  •  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 480 equivalent graphics card or higher
  •  Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 equivalent of higher
  •  4GB of RAM
  •  USB 2.0 ports
  •  HDMI 1.4 DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
  •  Windows 7SPI, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10

The HTC Vive also comes with a safety device called the Chaperone system which gives you a warning if you are too close to furniture or a wall. There is also a font-facing camera that enables you to see outside of your device.

A bundle is also being offered at the Microsoft Store that includes HTC Vive System,a GeForce GTX graphics card, a laptop or a desktop. Starting at $1,138.99 that saves you $200.

If you're new to VR, there are dozens of games that you can buy on Steam. Use your brand new Vive in games like "Space Pirate Trainer," "Job Simulator," and "Fruit Ninja VR." Check out this list from Polygon for more game ideas.

Alternatively, there are cheaper options if you don't have $699 to spare. For Google Pixel users you buy the Google Daydream View headset, while Samsung Galaxy users can buy the Gear VR headset.
