2017 New Smartphone Brands To Watch Out For: Nokia & Blackberry
Caroline SorianoIt wasn't long ago when the two brands -- Blackberry and Nokia -- led the market. They have always been on top however, they were also the last brands to adopt development in terms of the operating system strategy. Despite Nokia finally integrating Windows Phone and Blackberry releasing Blackberry 10, they still fail to attract a large number of famous apps.
However, despite what happened, Nokia and Blackberry still exist and survived the telecom industry. In fact, the year 2017 will mark the rise of these two popular brands again as they will embrace Android as their system. (via ZDNet)
According to Gadgets 360, Nokia will be under HMD Global next year. This event is highly anticipated by many and rumors are circulating the web every day. One of which is that three Nokia devices under Android will be introduced at MWC 2017 in February and each will target three categories -- entry-level, mid-range, and high-end categories.
However, another speculation states that HMD Global will unleash four new models instead of three, and it will include a variant of Nokia D1C. It is also expected for HMD Global to reveal its flagship Nokia smartphone and it is speculated to be built with a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM, and a 23-megapixel rear camera.
Meanwhile, Blackberry has already released PRIV and this is just the beginning. In 2017, it is expected to see Blackberry working on three Android smartphones. However, Blackberry will not work on its own, instead, it will reside with an OEM. The change is supposed to help the brand to lessen some expenses associated with R&D for the hardware while letting it focus on its software. Blackberry expects this move to generate new revenues in the coming year. (via KnowYourMobile)
The comeback of the two brands will probably set nostalgia in every consumer, especially to those who have personally experienced the wonder of this phone. With so many speculations going on, one thing is for sure, Blackberry and Nokia will use this "feeling" as their selling point.
