Tom Hardy has gained a reputation for his calm yet powerful role play in a number of movies including "The Dark Night Rises", "Lawless" and the latest of them all, "Mad Max: Fury Road". The actor is now all set to make a comeback to TV shows with his new period thriller "Taboo" which will premiere on FX on January 10, three days after its BBC One premiere in the UK.
"Taboo" is originally a brainchild of Tom Hardy himself, which he thought of around seven years ago. The ambitious new period thriller has been a long time coming on BBC One as well as FX and will arrive on our TV screens this January. Ridley Scott is the executive producer of the series, which features Tom Hardy as James Keziah Delaney. The character returns to London in 1814 to get revenge on the people responsible for his father's mysterious death.
Oscar nominee Tom Hardy, along with his father Edward 'Chips' Hardy, envisioned of the character- originally named 'Osborne'- back in 2009. The protagonist is a lost, vengeful and violent man who has visited the end of the earth and comes back to avenge his father's death. In an interview given to Digital Spy, the actor says he wanted to play the roles of Bill Sykes, Sherlock Holmes, Hannibal Lecter, Heathcliff, Marlow and about every classical character in one.
In its final form, "Taboo" comprises eight season parts with some serious pedigree. Scripted by "Peaky Blinders" creator Steven Knight, the series follows James Keziah Delaney, who returns home to London in 1814 from Africa. While he wants to reclaim his late father's shipping empire, there are enemies all around him and so he declares war on the establishment.
FX has not revealed much about Tom Hardy Led thriller series, however, the first fully fledged clip of the upcoming series has arrived giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the main character. The clip shows Hardy as a calm gentleman transforming into a monster character and threatening a woman to track down a group of men.
"Taboo" is one of the most anticipated new TV series in 2017, and the new clip does suggest it will be a good one. The thriller series also features stars like Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones), and Michael Kelly (House of Cards).
