Michael Schumacher Recovery and Injury Update: Three Years After Ski Accident, Definite Updates on F1 Racer's Health Still Scarce

It has been three years since famous Formula One racer Michael Schumacher suffered serious head injuries when his French Alps vacation ended in a ski accident. The family of the racer has since imposed a news blackout on his condition.

Ski accident and induced coma

Because of the severity of his injuries during that December 2013 accident, Michael Schumacher had to be placed in induced coma to save his life. Doctors performed two major operations on him and he ended up waking up from his coma on April 2014.

Updates on his condition has been really few with the family refusing to have interviews and asking the media to respect their privacy. The only concrete news that the public know is that Schumacher has been recovering in his Swiss home on the banks of Lake Geneva.

Recovering in his Swiss home

"Henceforth, Michael's rehabilitation will take place at his home. Considering the severe head injuries he suffered, progress has been made in the past weeks and months," read the statement that the family released a few years back. They also noted that they expect a long recovery for Schumacher.

The racer is also turning 48 this January 3 but it is still unclear if he is doing well with his recovery. Because of few updates about him, his fans have already turned their attention to his son, Mick, who is said to be following the footsteps of his dad when it comes to racing.

Photo leak

However, one of the most shocking revelations on Schumacher's condition is the "ghoulish" photo of the racer that was reportedly sold to the media for about £1million. The said picture was taken inside the home of Schumacher where he is recovering and was smuggled out without anyone noticing.

Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has maintained that the present condition and health of the Formula One racer will remain a private subject. He claimed that the family will not make any statements or comments on the matter.
