Linksys Unveils Velop, Its Own WiFi Mesh System
Cris Xander JulianoWith the growing popularity of filling your houses of WiFi connection with mesh networking systems, it's only suiting for Linksys, the most popular router today, to unveil its own mesh networking system, the Linksys tri-band Velop, according to a report by Engadget.
The design is very similar to a speaker and will fit right in your home. The ports for the power and Ethernet are concealed on the bottom of the Velop to maintain it clean look.
Linksys iOS and Android apps can set up and maintain the Velop and it supports Amazon's Alexa. This will allow users to turn on WiFi guest access on and off using only their voices. It will also adjust the network itself to provide the best WiFi speeds.
According to a report by Slash Gear, Linksys stated that each router is Tri-Band AC200 using a Qualcomm SoC with 716 MHz quad core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, three WiFi radios; a 2.4 GHz and two 5.GHz; and two LAN/WAN ports. There is also automatic channel-selection. Linksys also claims that each Velop is capable of combined speed of 2,200 Mbps. It's the same as having multiple routers all over your house for the best internet experience anywhere you are.
Linksys is selling the the Velop individually since the device is modular, for $199.99 each. You can also choose from a pack of two or three for $349.99 and $499.99, respectively. It's a lot pricier than what Google is offering for its own mesh network system, the Google Wifi, but Linksys is more known to deliver the best router for your home compared to other devices. The Velops are already available today.
