Netflix has just announced that it is bound to join in on the "Hallyu" fever as it will soon get to work on "Love Alarm." This is the first original South Korean series from the streaming giant and so far, it looks promising.

All About "Love Alarm"

"Love Alarm" is a comic series created by Kye Young Chon and it features an app that will allow people to find true love within 10 meters reach. The app will alert a user if someone within 10 meters has romantic feelings for him or her.

Chon is one of the most popular graphic novelists in South Korea. She created "Beautiful Man," "Unplugged Boy," and more. With "Love Alarm," Chon's popularity is expected to soar greater heights.

Netflix Joins "Hallyu" Fans Worldwide

According to Variety, Netflix is looking to release its live-action adaptation of "Love Alarm" in over 190 countries around the globe. Hidden Square will be producing the 12-part series and the project will be led by Lee Jae-moon.

Lee is popular for "Mi-saeng" and "Signal." "Mi-saeng," particularly, has found fame not just in South Korea but also in other regions. Lee said the goal of "Love Alarm" on Netflix is to demonstrate how true emotions are.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Erik Barmack, Netflix Vice President of International Originals said the streaming company is "honored" to be working with Ms. Chon and Mr. Lee. Netflix is then looking to transform the story into a "top-quality" series that its millions of fans will appreciate.

Netflix Works to Solve Its Issues in Asia

In April of last year, Venture Beat reported that Netflix was faced with bumpy roads when it decided to include Asia in its reach. In South Korea, particularly, there were only around 20 TV shows and movies offered. It appears that the streaming giant has decided to make a huge break in Asia this time through "Love Alarm."
