Apple Is All Set To Produce Original TV Screen Content, Will Launch Shows Like 'Westworld' & 'Stranger Things'
Niyati S.Netflix has done exceedingly well with its original shows which include but are not limited to "Narcos", "The Crown" and "Jessica Jones". The same can be said about HBO's original shows including "Game of Thrones" and "Westworld". Now Apple is trying to follow suit and is going to dedicate a "significant" segment and business division towards creating similar and original television shows.
They could even be venturing into movies. This has been reported by The Wall Street Journal. The original content in the form of movies and TV shows will be made available on Apple Music. This is almost in sync with the rumors previously reported from the segment. The content will be present along with the confirmed projects for the music streaming service "Apple Music" which include Carpool Karaoke and Vital Signs.
The new and original content, as reported by official Apple executives to Hollywood, will be launched for public viewing by the end of 2017 itself. What would be these shows like? HBO's "Westworld" and Netflix's "Stranger Things" were used as points of reference to give an example of the kind of shows Apple will be delving into. These proposed series and movies "don't have any particular relationship to music," unlike Carpool Karaoke and Vital Signs.
Here is what Apple had to quote about this move:
Because it is looking at just a handful of carefully selected shows, and potentially films, it doesn't appear Apple is preparing to spend the hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars it would need to spend annually to become a direct competitor to Netflix Inc., Amazon.com Inc.'s Prime Video or premium cable networks.
Rather, it would escalate the arms race between Apple Music and Spotify, which both offer essentially the same catalog of tens of millions of songs, by adding other content that could distinguish Apple's service.
Such a decision has been rumored for a long time as Apple was in active talks with producers and scriptwriters since last year. Although the exact execution and details of this move are still shrouded in secrecy, we think Apple might be able to perform well in the original TV shows domain.
