Nintendo Switch Supplies Are Enough To Meet Demand, Says Reggie Fils-Aime
Jason PalmerAmidst the great reviews that the Nintendo Switch is getting is the growing concern for the supplies that will be made available to the market. The concern for Nintendo Switch supplies stems from the Nintendo NES Classic supply problem that has just recently haunted the Kyoto-based video game maker.
In a recent interview with Wired, Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, addressed the issue concerning the Nintendo Switch supply and demand. According to Fils-Aime, the growing concern for the Switch supply is brought by the problems they had with the Nintendo NES Classic.
Fils-Aime admitted that the demand for the Nintendo NES Classic game console far exceeded anything that the company has anticipated. This huge demand for the classic game console created the shortage. However, Fils-Aime assured Nintendo Fans that the demand for the classic Nintendo game console will be met as the company continues to make the Nintendo NES Classic available,
As for the Nintendo Switch, Fils-Aime said that the company had initially planned to make 2million copies of the new hybrid game console available for its first month. Fils-Aime said that the company believes that this number is already enough especially since the first three weeks of March is not considered as a peak season for video game consoles.
Another great point that Fils-Aime discussed in the interview is the fate of the Nintendo handheld consoles, particularly the Nintendo 3DS, now that the Switch is launched, According to Fils-Aime the Nintendo 3DS has a long life in front of it and that it will co-exist with the new portable Nintendo game console just fine. He also reiterated that some exciting games will be launched for the Nintendo 3DS in this first quarters of 2017. Fils-Aime also said that though the Nintendo Switch is a portable game console it is still a home console.
