Apple iPhone 8 With An All Glass OLED Display, Enhanced IP68 Water Resistance To Address iPhone 7's Practical Flaw [VIDEO]; See Details
Vinay PatelApple took the wraps off the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September last year. But smartphone lovers are already clamoring for the next generation iPhone allegedly bearing the moniker, iPhone 8.
The highly anticipated smartphone has made several appearances online in the form of leaked images and has been subject to a slew of speculations that are currently doing rounds all over the internet. Here's a look at some of them.
Amidst multiple sources unceasingly hinting at a revolutionary, bigger iPhone 8 to be in the works, there's word that the device could sport an all glass OLED display and could be housed in a forged steel case. In addition to equipping the smartphone with the aforesaid features, Apple is also likely to take care of a practical flaw of the current generation iPhone.
A recent report from the usually credible KoreaHerald cited multiple sources that confirm the iPhone 7S and iPhone 8 models will come bearing upgraded IP68 water and dust resistance ratings. In other words, the 2017 variants of the iPhone could prevail against full submersion in about 1.5 meters of water for nearly 30 minutes.
This is a substantial upgrade from the existing IP67 rating that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with. The current generation iPhones can tough it out for the same time. However, only in one meter of water.
Besides being useful, this change is actually essential because Apple attributed their decision of removing the headphone jack to freeing up space for a larger battery and making the phones IP67 water resistant, according to BuzzFeed.
Much to the dismay of iPhone fans, the iPhone 7 packed a battery that's hardly bigger than the iPhone 6 and besides, the Galaxy S7 already has IP68 water resistance without getting rid of the headphone jack.
That being said, tech pundits are now curious to figure out what the scrapping of the headphone jack actually was necessary for. Hopefully, more details will be unraveled in near future. Stay tuned for more updates!
