Apple iOS 11 To Revive ‘Slide To Unlock’ Feature? Dark Mode, New Touchscreen Keyboard Will Also Be Added?
Caitlin MooreApple iOS 11 speculations are making the rounds online but Apple remains silent about the upcoming operating system. Reportedly, the Cupertino-based company plans to unveil the new iOS in June but the official roll out will be in September. Here is a roundup of what users could expect on the successor of iOS 10, including a dark mode, a revival of "slide to unlock" system and a brand new touchscreen technology.
As reported by ValueWalk, iOS 10 would carry a feature that will allow users switch their Apple devices into dark mode. The new mode is apparently designed to dim the screen of the smartphone or the tablet in the dark. As a result, users will find it easier to look at the screens without hurting their eyes due to brightness.
However, the report also claimed that the soon to be released iOS 10.3 could possibly carry the dark mode feature. That said, users may take advantage of it as early as March, the month when the new iOS update is expected to be released. Apart from the dark mode, iOS 10.3 is also believed to implement a theater mode though nothing specific has been revealed about it yet.
Meanwhile, a report from MacWorld revealed that the "slide to unlock" feature may be revived by Apple as there is a petition that calls for the company to bring it back. It can be recalled that the said function was removed in iOS 10. Whether or not Apple is bringing back the old feature remains unknown as of this posting.
In other news, the company was reportedly granted a patent for a new dynamic touchscreen keyboard, which it plans to embed in Apple devices through iOS 11. The touchscreen technology is suggested to follow the position of the user's fingers. It is important to note, however, that the details provided here are merely speculations and fans need to wait for an official statement from Apple to confirm the reports.
