'Dead Effect 2' Developer BadFly Interactive Admits Being Screwed Up After Threatening to Blacklist Websites Who Will Give Negative Reviews

Newcomer BadFly Interactive admitted that they screwed their press release after warning journalists sternly that they will not invite further reviews if their debut title, "Dead Effect 2," receives bad reviews. "Dead Effect 2" was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One although a Steam version has been making hits on Steam for a while since May last year.

"Dead Effect 2" is a sci-fi horror niche that appears to have drawn the title from mixing "Dead Space" and "Mass Effect." Ironically, this BadFly Interactive offering sports a gameplay that seems to be a fusion of the two popular titles.

The whole "Dead Effect 2" tussle started when BadFly Interactive sent review code to gaming websites. In an attempt to promote the game, BadFly developers over-eagerly included a lie in the invite that sounds like a threat. Eurogamer revealed that it is CEO and creative director Lubomir Dykast who signed for the review invite.

According to COGconnected, BadFly Interactive invitation to review "Dead Effect 2" sounds fine at the start. It reminded websites that BadFly is not yet within the AAA caliber, more so that the game looks like an indie iteration. It also states that "Dead Effect 2" is a brainchild of a small Czech team with limited resources. However, the near-end of the invite took a step further that made it sound like a threat to reviewers.

BadFly Interactive said that apart from "Dead Effect 2," there are other interesting titles in the pipeline. This is where the questioned threat started because the same letter included a line that sternly warns that they will never invite again should "Dead Effect 2" received very negative review.

BadFly Interactive clears out the misunderstanding through Martin Pospisil who stressed that they really "screwed" their invitation letter. He explained that "Dead Effect 2" is their staple and they badly want the game to succeed. Then Pospisil added that none on their team is a native English speaker, thus it contributed to the threatening tenor of their message.
