'League of Legends' Patch 7.2 Coming With Character Updates; Big Ten To Hold E-Sports Tournament
JulianneCompetitive video games has been in the gaming scene for years. But big company haven't been paying attention to it until now. Big Ten Network will begin hosting the livestream of "League of Legends" E-Sports starting later this month on Madison Square Garden.
The Wall Street Journal reports that an E-sports tournament will be held in January 30. The event compromises teams from 12 of its 14 member schools. The teams will be playing one of the popular multiplayer game, "League of Legends" at the said event.
The online tournament is in partnership between the conference and Tencent Holdings Ltd.'s Riot Games, which develops the popular online game. Each member of a competing team; six players, a coach and manager will get a $5,000 in scholarship money to the team who wins.
The schools will be divided into two divisions, mainly the East and the West divisions. The top team for each division will get to face in the final contests, with the winner advancing to the college-championship tournament run by Riot.
The "League of Legends" Big Ten Tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN and TBS. Amazon will also have a livestream for the tournament. Matches will be broadcast live on Mondays and repeated later or fans can rewatch the match on network streaming apps.
Meanwhile, the "League of Legends" new patch 7.2 will soon be released. The expected patch will bring mass changes throughout the game and one thing is for sure that character build-up will be one of it.
According to Mic, a handful of characters will be buffed and nerfed in the coming update. One particular hero getting upgraded is Nidalee. Nidalee has been given a health boost and the hero's Bushwack ability will be invisible.
Akali, Gragas, Lulu, and Master Yee have been given minor buffs while, Darius and Katarina have been nerfed in "League of Legends". Other items in the game such as Knight's Vow and Chalice of Harmony have also been given a small boost.
