‘Samurai Jack’ Finally Returns to Television This March After 12 Years
Ralphy Bonn SimIn a promotional congress for Adult Swim, show creator Genndy Tartakovsky revealed that "Samurai Jack" will be back on Cartoon Network on March 11, 2017 at 11:30 PM ET.
A samurai named Jack shows the story of a young prince from a small kingdom in feudal Japan. "Samurai Jack" has four seasons with 52 episodes that aired from August 10, 2001, up to September 25, 2004. The cartoon series was cancelled by the network, but the real reasons have not been revealed.
According to Polygon, creator Genndy Tartakovsky and cartoon director Mike Lazzo are working closely on the new season of "Samurai Jack." They shared that the fifth season of the cartoon series will have 10 episodes which will explore the end of Jack and his friends' journey.
As reported by Nerd Reactor, last December 2, 2015, a five-second promo verifying the cartoon series' return has been released. Tartakovsky wanted to make a feature-length movie about Jack the samurai, but after a few attempts his proposals proved to be unsuccessful, so he went to Adult Swim Studios to get the cartoon series back on air.
Tartakovsky said in an interview that he's always been concerned with the show and has tried to make a movie for eight years. After meeting with Lazzo, the duo decided to make the fifth season of "Samurai Jack" instead.
