Reports circulating around the internet have revealed that actor Thomas Jane ("The Crow: City of Angels," "The Last Time I Committed Suicide") will allegedly join the cast of "The Predator." The upcoming movie is slated for a 2018 release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thomas Jane is currently in final negotiations to become part of the cast for Shane Black's ("Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Iron Man 3") "The Predator." Confirmed cast members include Boyd Holbrook ("Out of the Furnace," "The Free World"), Keegan-Michael Key ("Hell Baby," "The Angry Birds Movie") and Trevante Rhodes ("Moonlight," "If Loving You Is Wrong").

Production for "The Predator" will begin this February, and Holbrook will lead an ensemble cast that will face off against "an array of the alien hunters first seen in the 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger ("Terminator," "The Running Man"). While Jane is in talks to join the cast of the coming movie, details about his role are kept under wraps for the time being. The actor is represented by Paradigm and Ziffren Brittenham.

Meanwhile, /Film has revealed that the ex-marines in "The Predator" will include Rhodes and Key. Sterling K. Brown ("Brown Sugar," "The Suspect") will allegedly be portraying a character who is "a government agent who jails Holbrook's ex-Marine character, but later needs his help with the Predators."

Actress Olivia Munn ("Iron Man 2," "X-Men: Apocalypse") is also in talks to join the cast of "The Predator." Munn will reportedly play a scientist in the upcoming movie.

It was also revealed that "The Predator" will not be "complete reboot." Black said that the first "Predator" movie, which aired in 1987, will be a part of the upcoming film's storyline. According to the director, "I think it has to stand on its own two feet, but our goal is to make sure it acknowledges that, yeah, it is 30 years later in the continuity of the story. In other words, Dutch Schaefer's patrol, which was attacked and largely slaughtered, happened 30 years ago in the context of the story. It's referenced, it's part of the mythology."
