CBS And Netflix Join The Reality-TV Genre With Their New Shows ‘Hunted’ And ‘Ultimate Beastmaster’ Respectively
Cris Xander JulianoCBS and Netflix created new shows that will bring them to the reality-TV genre, "Hunted" on CBS and "Ultimate Beastmaster" on the online streaming service giant Netflix according to The New York Times.
This reality show is an adaptation of a British show of the same name wherein two-person teams try to elude former law enforcement for 28 days. A commercial for the show was broadcast during an NFL playoff game that helped it gain 12 million viewers on its premiere, the highest ratings for a reality show since "The X-Factor" back in 2011.
Each Team, called fugitives, need to evade former officials called the hunters, for 28 days in a radius of 100,000 miles. The hunters came from agencies like United States Marshals and Central Intelligence Agency as they use social media, surveillance techniques and ATM records to track down the fugitives.
The winner will get $250,000 in cash.
It's an athletic competition show that will debut next month on Netflix which features a complex obstacle course called "The Beast." A big attraction to the show is its international focus as 108 competitors come from different countries such as Brazil, Japan, Mexico and Germany just to name a few. They consist of military veterans, ice climbers and health enthusiasts.
Producers of the show intended this reality game to be like a human video game as players try to navigate the course to collect the most points possible, the sound whenever a player hits a mark is like a beep of a video game.
The show is produced by Sylvester Stallone and David Broome.
