“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 will be taking some “very big swings and big steps forward.” The show has been all about the advantages and disadvantages of romance ever since its pilot episode. Moreover, the series’ executive producer, Jennie Urman, recently hinted at upcoming relationship shake-ups.

“There is going to be a lot of new and unexpected romantic and dramatic couplings,” Urman told TV Line. For instance, Yael Grobglas’ Petra will reportedly have a new love interest.

Deadline has confirmed that Johnny Messner was recently signed to portray Chuck “The Marauder,” who will be the new owner of the adults-only hotel right next door. He and Petra are expected to have a love-hate relationship in “Jane the Virgin” Season 3. “We have a big event that leaves everybody in different places,” Urman added. “Part of that is played out through her new romance.”

Fans who are up-to-date with the events on “Jane the Virgin” Season 3 are well aware that Jane is now back with Michael, and that Rafael is now seeing Jane’s cousin, Catalina. It remains unclear whether Catalina is serious about Rafael, or if she is only using him for something.

“She likes him,” Urman confirmed. “She is just an opportunist. She [Jane] will be torn between running to Rafael and telling him right away or trusting what Catalina says.”

Jane, on the other hand, will also be facing her own challenges in the upcoming episodes of “Jane the Virgin” Season 3. According to Urman’s revelation, the show will soon delve into Jane and Michael’s decision to expand their family. The subject will reportedly “come up in the next couple of episodes.” “We build to a real turning point in our show around Episode 10,” she continued. “They make some decisions, and there are some complications.”
