"Gears of War 4" officially launched its cross-platform versus multiplayer mode. The recent announcement is made on the official Windows 10 Blog and is also discussed at Xbox Wire.

"Gears of War 4" PC and Xbox One player can now compete with each other. According to the Windows Blog, Social Quick play will be transformed into a Cross-play playlist.

The cross-platform versus mode for Windows PC and Xbox One was first introduced last December 2016. A test was conducted for a single weekend pitting "Gears of War 4" Xbox One players to those playing with Windows PC.

Now the beta test has come to its fruition as the adversarial "Gears of War 4" cross-platform multiplayer has been officially launched. According to the Windows blog, the cross-platform versus mode is a permanent move for Social Quickplay's future.

The PC and Xbox One "Gears of War 4" cross-platform is limited only to unranked Social Quickplay mode. As such, core and competitive gameplays can only be played on similar video game platforms

The move to not include the ranked modes in the Social Quickplay is done to ensure that these modes are as competitive and closely matched as possible. This decision has been done despite the data gathered during the beta test.

The Coalition's Liam Ashley wrote on the Xbox Wire that players from the two platforms, Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, displayed closely-matched results based on skill ratings. The data compared were the per match Average KD, Score and Kills.

According to the Xbox Wire, 750,000 matches were played during the beta test. More than 115,000 video game players participated in the beta test for the cross-platform adversarial mode.

"Gears of War 4" is a third person shooter game for Xbox One and Windows PC. It is developed by The Coalition and published by Microsoft Studios. The game was released on October 11, 2016.
