The designers of "Civilization VI" recently battled each other in Global Thermonuclear War, the multiplayer scenario of the strategy game. More details of the "Civilization VI" multiplayer mode were revealed as the development team built their empires and dominate enemies.

A livestream for "Civilization VI" Global Thermonuclear War was featured on Jan. 27, 2017, with game designers Pete Murray and Brian Feldges playing against other members of the development team. The two designers strategized how to position their cities, accumulate resources and gradually build their armies to hopefully win the game.

In the video, which lasted about one hour, the "Civilization VI" designers detailed the Cold War setting of Global Thermonuclear War. The initial sequences mostly comprised of editing the terrain and upgrading technology. They expanded their nations in the next several minutes, showing their preferences in terms of diplomacy, military strength, infrastructures and financial growth, among others.

The "Civilization VI" developers also presented the different units in the game. The screen showed potential missions, how some units needed commands and how to develop the region in the most strategic way. As the game progressed, the "Civilization VI" players also forwarded their timelines, allowing them to access more powerful units, weapons and technology. The multiplayer game then focused on expanding their territories further and attacking enemy states.

The final scenes in "Civilization VI" Global Thermonuclear War showed Murray and Feldges moving their units towards enemy cities and building more land and water military units. Afterwards, they said that the team needed to stop playing and go to work. Overall, the "Civilization VI" livestream presented how dynamic the multiplayer mode is, allowing players to immerse in the combat-based setting.

Global Thermonuclear War launched with "Civilization VI" in October 2016. The multiplayer scenario mod focused on the Cold War during the Atomic Era. The scenario lasts 50 turns, with the player with the most victory conditions in the end winning the game.

Although the regular mode allows players to win via multiple means, in either peace or wartime, the "Civilization VI" mod generally encourages players to be more aggressive, developing and launching nuclear missiles and other state-of-the-art weapons in the shortest time possible. More updates and details on "Civilization VI" are expected soon.
