'Making a Murderer': Season 2 2017 Premiere Confirmed; Will New Development On Steven Avery's Case Exonerate Him?
Louise Bonquin"Making a Murderer" Season 2 has been confirmed to return this year with Steven Avery. The highly popular documentary show that airs on Netflix will continue the story of falsely accused person as his case gets deeper as he filed a suit against people who sent him to jail for an offense he did not commit.
While Netflix announced the return of the show, the exact date when "Making a Murderer" Season 2 is airing was not revealed yet. In connection with this, Cindy Holland, Netflix's VP of original content, explained that since the story is something that is in progress they cannot determine the date.
"The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold," she told USA Today. "We don't know when, for sure, new episodes will be coming."
It appears that even the people working for Netflix do not have an idea when the new episodes will be released. They are being kept in the dark regarding the documentary's premiere date so, it is a mystery for now.
On the press release, Netflix stated that with "Making a Murderer" Season 2, viewers will be able to see a comprehensive and thorough look at the post-conviction process and its emotional toll on Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, his nephew and co-defendant.
Moreover, the upcoming episodes will also feature Kathleen Zellner, Avery's new lawyer. She will somehow be the focus of the documentary as she reveals more of her exclusive findings regarding her client's case. Dassey's legal team led by Steven Drizin and Laura Nirider will also be on spotlight as they prepare for strategies on the cases and appeals.
Ever since Zellner publicly took the case of Avery to be his defense attorney (pro-bono), she has been working on unearthing the lapses and holes that led to to the defendant's conviction to life imprisonment. She believes that Avery was framed by planting evidences and coerced confessions.
Th lawyer added that she has the real suspect in the murder of Teresa Halbach.
"Almost half of our exonerations led to real killer," Zellner tweeted in September last year. "I've probably solved way more murder cases than most homicide detectives."
"Making a Murderer" is a program that documented the case of 53-year-old Steven Avery who was unjustly sentenced to life in jail after being judged guilty for the murder of Teresa Halbach. The first season was made after following the case for 10 years.
