Nintendo Boss Tatsumi Kimishima Drops Hint About New 3DS
S. TurlaGamers all over the world are hyped about the upcoming Nintendo Switch, but it looks like the company is also working on a new handheld game console. Reggie Fils-Aime himself, Nintendo of America's president, hinted that they will continue to support the 3DS.
According to Trusted Reviews, during an interview with Wired Fils-Aime promised that the 3DS won't be going away anytime soon. The Nintendo Switch can "coexist just fine" with the 3DS, and the president said that this will be easy for Nintendo since they've "done this before, managing two different systems."
Meanwhile, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima teased that in the future, gamers can look forward to a follow-up to the 3DS. Kimishima told Kyoto Shinbun, a Japanese newspaper, that for him, the 3DS is still relevant. His comment could mean that Nintendo is planning on a new handheld device.
Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games Inc., reacted to Kimishima's comment. Dr. Toto tweeted thrice and he apologized for the numerous posts which contained his thoughts on the Kyoto Shimbun article.
1) Sorry for the Nintendo tweet storms, but here is one more news item. Thanks to @gypsyOtoko for alerting me to a Kyoto Shinbun article.

In January, Fils-Aime said that the "3DS has a long life in front of it." The president claimed that the handheld game console is still popular with gamers and that the company is not worried since the Switch will appeal to a different target market.
Fils-Aime also talked about some new 3DS games that Nintendo will be releasing in early 2017. Players who are worried about a lack of titles 3DS can rest assured that the company is not stopping support for the handheld game console even when the Switch is released.
In other news, Nintendo has increased production of the Switch and stopped the production of the Wii U console, per Shacked News. The Nintendo Switch is slated for a March 3 release this year.
