Lenovo Launches Affordable Android-Powered Yoga A12 With Halo Keyboard; Official Release On Feb. 8
JulianneEver since Lenovo introduced the Yoga Book last year, the company has been on the spotlight when it comes to convertible notebooks. Today, Lenovo has introduced the Yoga A12, a convertible tablet that has similarities with the brand's Yoga Book.
In a report by The Indian Express, the company simply describes the device as an affordable Android tablet made for all-day productivity. Lenovo says that the 2-in-1 model will be made available on February 8 in the U.S. through the company's official webpage, starting $299.
The upcoming Yoga A12 is only available with Android, unlike the last year's Yoga Book that has both Microsoft and Android OS. However, the convertible tablet features a Halo keyboard that doesn't have any raised keys and it's flat.
Meanwhile, MSPowerUser reports that the Lenovo model sports a 12.2-inch HD screen, an Intel Atom x5 processor, only 2GB of RAM and only comes with two Dolby Atmos speakers. The devices also come with a 32GB of internal storage and offers a 13-hour battery life.
With that said, Lenovo is offering less for the A12 2-in-1 laptop and is also Android-powered. The publication believes that the said device won't be a bet to consumers as it falls greatly in people's expectations.
The device lacks productivity features that users can find on Windows 10. In addition, a 2GB RAM on an Android tablet won't likely offer the ideal experience for productivity, since it is not Windows 10-powered.
Since the company's convertible device runs on Android, it also doesn't have Windows 10's inking features that Microsoft had in its OS. Unlike the Yoga Book, the A12 tablet does not support the latter's stylus. Thus, writing on the keyboard is impossible for the upcoming tablet.
However, Lenovo fans can rest assured if the company will produce a Windows 10 version of the convertible tablet in the near future. After all, Lenovo is one of Microsoft's biggest Windows 10 OEMs and a close partner to the company.
