Nintendo Switch Release, Specs Info: Nintendo Says Bringing NVIDIA GeForce To Switch Is Top Priority [VIDEO]
Pia MerciNintendo's top priority was bringing NVIDIA's GeForce to its Nintendo Switch's development.
Genyo Takeda, Nintendo's "Technology Fellow" who researches and helps in creating Nintendo hardware, recently talked about how getting NVIDIA's GeForce onto the Nintendo Switch was a top priority for the company. He said such aforementioned statement during the firm's most recent investor Q&A for Nintendo current financial year.
Moreover, he described Nintendo Switch as high performance but with low power depletion. He added that he is aware that PCs have been a major gaming device and his top priority in developing Nintendo Switch's hardware was to eventually bring NVIDIA's GeForce. It is a GPU that played a highly important role in realizing high-performance graphics for PC gaming, to their hardware with the said low power consumption.
Takeda further says that Nintendo Switch is likely a new and one-of-a-kind crossover when it regards to achieving high-quality performance compared to that of a PC which is both in front of the owner's TV set and in their hands. On the other hand, Nintendo has only reportedly confirmed about a "custom Tegra processor" for the Switch as of yet. Exact details about the aforesaid custom chip are said to be still unknown.
The custom Tegra processor powers the Nintendo Switch. The high-efficiency scalable processor supposedly includes an NVIDIA GPU which resembles the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch's gaming experience is said to be also supported by fully custom software. It includes a semi-overhauled physics engine, new libraries, exceptional game tools and libraries.
NVIDIA created new gaming APIs as well to fully utilize the performance. NVN, the newest API was apparently built especially to provide fast gaming and lightweight to the masses. The Nintendo Switch will be reportedly launched internationally on March 3.
