"Avatar" in 2009 broke a number of box office records during its theatrical run and became the highest-grossing film of all time exceeding "Titanic," which shared the same director James Cameron. Now, there are already four sequels planned where "Avatar 2" has been slated for release in December 2018 to be followed by the other sequels in December 2020, 2022 and 2023.

"Avatar 2" Release Date
The upcoming movie has missed several production start date leading to problem with forecasting although at this time, it is scheduled for release in December 2018. The film has experienced delays especially that Cameron has planned to film four sequels all at once.

"Avatar 2" Rating
The original film received a PG-13 rating and although there's no word on the sequel's actual story, it's improbable that it will land into Rated R territory. So, it's possible that the sequel, as well as the other three, will stick to PG-13 rating.

"Avatar 2" Film Location
Reports say that it will be filmed in New Zealand although it has come at an extreme price where the studio needs to commit to more than $500 million in expenses. The government also dictated that the studio needs to agree to host a world premiere in Wellington.

James Cameron
The filmmaker was very passionate about the project and spent long years in developing both the technological advancements and script of the original film and it wouldn't be news if he does the same with the upcoming sequels. He also has huge plans of the sequels to film them at higher frame rates using performance capture underwater.

Script
Cameron was the sole screenwriter of the original movie but for the upcoming sequels, he brought in veterans Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Shane Salerno. These are the key people behind the movies "War of the Worlds," "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," "Armageddon" among others.

The Plot
Cameron is very cautious with the plot details but he confirmed that the humans will be the antagonists again and the film's focal point would be the oceans of Pandora and the rainforest. As for other three sequels, the other moons of Polyphemus are going to be explored.
